A group of disadvantaged young people from across East London will be taking part in a life-changing volunteer programme this Autumn, thanks to a unique partnership between Groundwork East London and Raleigh International.
On Tuesday 2nd October, the Colne Valley Park will be visited by a group of 40 representatives of the Dutch government and other official Dutch groups. The group are in the UK for a study trip to help with the development of national parks in Holland. They wanted to visit the Colne Valley Regional Park because of Colne Valley's experience in developing a historic landscape successfully.
Groundwork London is inviting applications for a second round of the London Woodland Grants Scheme. The scheme offers small grants (£500-£5000) for tree and woodland related projects. Funding is offered for a variety of activities from planting and maintaining trees to woodland management, signage and community involvement. At present the scheme is only available in East and South East London.
The Groundwork playscape exhibit, in partnership with Play England, fought off stiff competition to win a prestigious Gold Award at this week's Hampton Court Flower Show. The exhibit, which demonstrates an innovative approach to designing local play spaces, was highly praised for its originality and the enthusiasm of all the team involved. It was also praised for the fantastic public response, who were said to love the idea of this genuinely playable landscape.
Having been a supporter of the Green Grid concept from the start, Groundwork was asked to contribute to this Supplementary Planning Guidance.
