Communities and Young People

Groundwork London's projects engage communities and young people.  Our work gets people involved in decision making in their local areas; it empowers them to make a difference to the places where they live, and it brings different groups together, helping improve community cohesion.

All communities are different. Our long-term involvement in areas helps us understand the specific needs of the community and many of our projects start by working with local people to develop ideas and plans for what needs to be done and how.  By working with people, we help them develop lifelong learning skills and by engaging them in our work, we ensure projects are sustainable.

Young people

Working with young people takes specific expertise.  Our staff work with young people to engage and empower them.  Our projects give them the skills, confidence and opportunities to be a part of the decision-making process within their community.  We work with young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) to build their skills and provide training and opportunities for them. And we support at risk young people, helping them build skills and confidence away from the traditional classroom setting.

As with all of our work, our projects tend to be bespoke, catering for the specific need of the particular people or group we are working with. To find out more about how we could help you, please contact us.  The below examples of our projects will also give you a real example of the type of work we do.
